Beatrice, Lady of the Eternal

Beatrice, Lady of the Eternal was first introduced in the 2016 Brothers of Legend expansion, an OCG-imported set designed to bring legacy support and high-impact cards to the global Yu-Gi-Oh! Trading Card Game market. The card is based on the character Beatrice Portinari, the muse of the Italian poet Dante Alighieri, who serves as a central guide and spiritual figure in his Divine Comedy. Her design reflects this literary connection, incorporating ethereal, celestial imagery that aligns with the Burning Abyss archetype, a deck theme famously inspired by the layers of Dante's Inferno.

The card was designed as a powerful rank 6 Xyz Monster, and its competitive reception was immediate and profound. Its ability to send any card from the deck to the graveyard upon activation made it a versatile utility tool for various graveyard-reliant strategies. Because of this high utility, the card has remained a staple in competitive play for years, frequently appearing on the game's official forbidden and limited lists due to its significant influence on the game's mechanics and deck-building landscape.
