Where it came from
The Berserk Dragon was introduced in the Dark Crisis booster set, released in North America in 2004 during the height of the original Yu-Gi-Oh! Trading Card Game craze. Designed to be a high-level boss monster for Zombie-type decks, it features an aggressive aesthetic that aligns with the set's dark, gritty themes. It serves as a formidable presence on the field, requiring the tributing of a 'Berserk Gorilla' to be special summoned, which reflects the card's lore of a creature driven by uncontrollable rage.
The artwork for this card exemplifies the complex, sharp-lined style favored by Konami’s design team during the early 2000s, emphasizing a skeletal, undead dragon composition. Upon its release, the card was received as a niche but iconic inclusion for dedicated collectors and players focusing on Zombie-attribute synergy. As a Super Rare card within the Dark Crisis set, it remains a nostalgic touchstone for early-era collectors who value the mechanical evolution of the game’s first few years.
