Blackwing - Abrolhos the Megaquake

Blackwing - Abrolhos the Megaquake was released in the 2010 expansion Starstrike Blast, a set that arrived during the height of the Blackwing archetype's dominance in the Yu-Gi-Oh! Trading Card Game. Introduced as part of the 5D's era, the Blackwing series was designed by Kazuki Takahashi's creative team to feature high-speed, swarm-based synergy centered around winged beast monsters. This particular card was intended to serve as a late-game boss monster for the deck, offering a unique effect that could manipulate the board state during the end phase.

The design of Abrolhos draws from the aesthetic identity of the Blackwing cards, which are characterized by their dark, armored, and bird-like visuals. While the card is mechanically distinct, it functions within the established lore of the Blackwing fleet as a tactical disruptor. Upon its release, the card received a lukewarm reception compared to staple members of the archetype, as its high-level requirement and situational effect made it less efficient for the competitive tournament landscape of the time, leading it to remain a rare, specialized pick for collectors of the sub-series.
