Provenance

Where it came from

The Book of Secret Arts was released as part of the Starter Deck: Yugi in 2002, marking the introduction of the Yu-Gi-Oh! Trading Card Game to North American audiences. This deck was designed to mirror the cards used by the protagonist, Yugi Muto, in the popular anime series, providing new players with a balanced foundation to learn the game's core mechanics.

Mechanically, the card is an equip spell that provides a modest 300-point boost to a monster's attack and defense. While its impact on competitive play has been minimal due to its generic effect, it remains a nostalgic touchstone for early adopters of the game, representing the simpler era of card interactions that defined the franchise's initial global expansion.
