Bujin Hirume

Bujin Hirume was first introduced to the Yu-Gi-Oh! Trading Card Game in the 2015 Mega-Tin Mega Pack, which functioned as a compilation set gathering cards from major booster releases of the preceding year. This specific card originated from the Primal Origin set, fitting into the Bujin archetype—a group of Beast-Warrior and related support monsters inspired by Japanese mythology. The design leans heavily into the aesthetic of Shinto deities, with Hirume serving as a representation of Amaterasu, the sun goddess, reflecting the thematic focus on light-attribute warriors and graveyard-based graveyard recursion.

The artwork for the Bujin series was developed to create a cohesive, mystical visual identity characterized by ornate armor and celestial motifs. As an Ultra Rare print within the 2015 Mega-Tin, this version of Hirume provided players with a more accessible way to obtain a card that had previously been a higher rarity in its original expansion. Upon its release, it was well-regarded by competitive players for its utility in the Bujin deck, as its effect allowed for specialized summoning from the hand by banishing another Bujin monster, thereby facilitating faster offensive plays.
