Conscription

Conscription was originally introduced to the Yu-Gi-Oh! Trading Card Game as a common card in the Dark Revelation Volume 4 set. Released in North America in 2007, the Dark Revelation series was designed as a reprint collection, specifically curated to provide players with easier access to cards that had previously appeared in individual expansion sets. By compiling cards from sets like Soul of the Duelist and Rise of Destiny, Konami aimed to stabilize the secondary market and support the growing competitive scene of the mid-2000s.

The card features an illustration depicting a military-style call to action, fitting the theme of its effect which forces an opponent to reveal cards from their deck. Like many cards of this era, the design reflects the transition toward increasingly technical trap card mechanics that aimed to disrupt an opponent's strategy by interacting with their deck composition. While it never became a staple in competitive tournament play, it remains a recognized artifact of the game's mid-lifecycle expansion strategy.
