Consolation Prize

Consolation Prize was originally released in the 2019 Gold Sarcophagus Tin Mega Pack as a common rarity card. This set was designed to reprint highly sought-after cards from the previous year's major expansions, such as Flames of Destruction and Soul Fusion, offering players a more accessible way to obtain competitive staples and supporting cards.

The card’s design reflects the late-era Yugioh aesthetic, where trap cards often feature complex, situational conditions meant to disrupt an opponent's momentum. As a card that triggers when an opponent's monster declares an attack, it adheres to the thematic tradition of 'rewarding' a player for losing their own board presence, a mechanic that has existed in various forms since the game's inception to provide comeback potential.
