Crossout Designator

Crossout Designator was first introduced to the Yu-Gi-Oh! Trading Card Game as part of the Legendary 5D's Decks in 2021. Designed to address the increasing prevalence of hand traps in competitive play, the card functions as a strategic counter-measure by allowing a player to declare a card name and banish a copy of that card from their deck to negate the effect of the opponent's activation. Its release was highly anticipated by players looking for more robust defensive options against disruptive cards that could otherwise end a turn prematurely.

The card's design reflects a shift toward high-impact utility cards that reward deck-building foresight. By requiring the user to include specific copies of common disruptive cards within their own deck to activate the effect, the design forces a delicate balance between main-decking versatile tools and maintaining a cohesive strategy. Upon its wider release, it became a staple in tournament-level decks, valued for its ability to protect key combo pieces and ensure play consistency in an environment dominated by rapid, high-interaction duels.
