Dark Garnex the Cubic Beast

Dark Garnex the Cubic Beast was introduced as part of the Yu-Gi-Oh! The Dark Side of Dimensions Movie Pack, released in 2017 to coincide with the Western theatrical launch of the titular film. The card represents the archetype used by the film's antagonist, Aigami, whose deck focuses on the unique Cubic mechanic. This mechanic centers on placing counters on monsters to inhibit their effects and facilitate summoning higher-level variants, reflecting the character's thematic role in the story.

The card’s design, characterized by the shimmering, diagonal texturing of the Secret Rare rarity, was crafted by the creative team at Konami to capture the crystalline, otherworldly aesthetic of the movie’s dimension-hopping plot. The artwork depicts a fractured, geometric creature, consistent with the visual motif of the Cubic monsters that serve as key plot devices during the film’s duels. Upon release, it was primarily sought after by fans of the movie and collectors interested in the specific synergy and visual appeal of the limited-edition Secret Rare set.
