Dark Magic Expanded

Dark Magic Expanded was released in 2016 as part of The Dark Illusion booster set, a core Yu-Gi-Oh! Trading Card Game expansion designed to modernize and support archetypes centered on the iconic Dark Magician. Following years of nostalgia-driven support, this set sought to give the Dark Magician deck greater consistency and competitive viability by introducing new spell and trap support that referenced the character's long-standing history in the franchise.

The card was illustrated to reflect the evolution of Yugi Muto’s signature spellcasting style, providing players with a versatile tool to grant various effects to Dark Magician cards already on the field. As a common rarity card, it was widely available to players upon release, serving as a functional utility piece that prioritized gameplay depth over collectible scarcity, and it has since remained a staple in thematic Dark Magician decks due to its ability to clear the opponent's field or protect key monsters.
