Provenance

Where it came from

Dark Scorpion - Chick the Yellow was released in 2003 as part of the Dark Crisis booster set for the Yu-Gi-Oh! Trading Card Game. This set introduced the Dark Scorpion archetype, a group of bandit-themed monsters led by Don Zaloog that were designed to facilitate tactical hand disruption and field control. The cards were based on characters from the Yu-Gi-Oh! GX manga, which reimagined these figures as recurring antagonists with distinct, quirky personalities.

The card was illustrated with a distinct aesthetic that favored a stylized, cartoonish villainy, fitting for the card's common rarity status. As a basic effect monster within the archetype, it served as a utility piece intended to synergize with the other Dark Scorpions by attacking directly when specific conditions were met. While it saw limited competitive play, it remains a nostalgic touchstone for collectors of early-era Yu-Gi-Oh! archetypes and those interested in the transition of manga characters into playable card game mechanics.
