Dark Scorpion - Gorg the Strong

Dark Scorpion - Gorg the Strong was released in the 2003 expansion set Dark Crisis, a pivotal release in the Yu-Gi-Oh! Trading Card Game that introduced the dark-themed aesthetic and various character-based archetypes. The card was designed as part of the Dark Scorpion quartet, a group of thieves in the game’s lore intended to synergize through specific combat-triggered effects. These monsters were characterized by their uniform bandit-like appearance, reflecting the early 2000s design philosophy of the game which leaned into gritty, illustrative fantasy themes.

The artwork for the Dark Scorpion series was produced by the creative teams at Konami to emphasize the thematic cohesion of the unit. As a common rarity card, it served as accessible filler for deck builders during the mid-game lifecycle of the original series. While it did not hold the competitive weight of higher-tier staples of the time, the card remains a nostalgic touchstone for collectors of the classic Dark Crisis era due to its distinct role in the franchise's expanding narrative world.
