Destrudo the Lost Dragon's Frisson

Destrudo the Lost Dragon's Frisson was introduced in the 2017 Yu-Gi-Oh! Trading Card Game expansion set, Circuit Break. Released as a Rare effect monster, the card serves as a thematic continuation of the dragon-kin archetypes that have historically populated the game. Its design reflects the 'Link Summoning' era, a period defined by the introduction of the Extra Monster Zone, which fundamentally shifted how players managed their boards and utilized graveyard resources.

The card was designed to facilitate high-speed plays, allowing it to special summon itself from the hand or graveyard at the cost of half the player's life points. Illustratively, the artwork depicts a draconic entity shedding its physical form, a visual metaphor for its ability to manipulate levels and serve as a tuner monster. Upon its release, it was widely recognized by the competitive community as a potent utility piece, eventually seeing restricted status in tournament play due to its unparalleled efficiency in enabling synchro and link climbing sequences.
