Dewloren, Tiger King of the Ice Barrier

Dewloren, Tiger King of the Ice Barrier, was originally introduced in the Hidden Arsenal expansion set in 2010. As a key monster within the Ice Barrier archetype, the card was designed to support a control-oriented playstyle that focuses on locking down the opponent's options. Its aesthetic reflects the overarching theme of the Ice Barrier, which depicts a collection of frozen, powerful guardians bound by ancient seals, characterized by a mix of icy blue motifs and armored, beast-like features.

The version from Structure Deck: Freezing Chains, released in 2021, represents a modern iteration of the card within a deck designed to revitalize the Ice Barrier strategy. This specific release features updated card text, as Dewloren was famously subject to a functional erratum to limit its ability to trigger repetitive card effects. By refining its effect to once per turn, the game designers aimed to balance its utility while maintaining its identity as a versatile combo piece in synchro-based strategies.
