Djinn Releaser of Rituals

Djinn Releaser of Rituals was introduced to the Yu-Gi-Oh! Trading Card Game in 2015 as part of The Secret Forces, a booster set primarily focused on Ritual and Fusion archetypes like Nekroz. The card serves as a key support piece for Ritual-based decks, allowing players to utilize it as a substitute for a Ritual Monster sacrifice while providing the summoned monster with a powerful floodgate effect that prevents the opponent from conducting a Special Summon.

The card was illustrated by the Konami design team as part of the Djinn series, a collection of Fiend-type monsters characterized by their blue, ethereal aesthetic and dark, swirling energy motifs. While intended to bolster the competitive viability of Ritual Summoning, the card eventually became a subject of significant controversy within the tournament scene due to the restrictive nature of its effect, leading to its eventual restriction and eventual banning on the official Forbidden and Limited list.
