Droll & Lock Bird

Droll & Lock Bird was introduced in the 2010 Yu-Gi-Oh! TCG expansion Starstrike Blast. It emerged during a competitive era defined by decks that relied heavily on searching the deck for multiple cards in a single turn. The design was intended to serve as a high-impact hand trap, providing players with a way to punish opponents who relied on excessive card cycling, effectively halting their momentum after the first search occurred.

The card features an illustrative style consistent with the 'Lock' monster motif, depicting a bird-like construct meant to represent the restriction of game resources. It was designed by the Konami creative team to be a strategic counter-meta staple. Upon release, it gained immediate notoriety for its ability to shift the tempo of competitive play, eventually becoming a recurring mainstay in tournament-level deck building due to its enduring relevance against search-heavy strategies.
