Final Countdown

Final Countdown was originally released in the 2002 Japanese set Labyrinth of Nightmare before appearing in the English Dark Revelation Volume 1 compilation in 2005. Designed as an alternate win condition card, it challenges players to survive for twenty turns after paying a life point cost, representing a high-stakes defensive playstyle that deviates from standard creature-based combat.

The card's design aesthetic and mechanical concept emerged during a formative era of the game where Konami began experimenting with unconventional victory conditions. While its common rarity in the Dark Revelation reprint made it widely accessible to players, the card remains a notable artifact of early card balance philosophy, often serving as a centerpiece for specialized 'stall' decks that prioritize stalling the game state over traditional offensive interactions.
