Fishborg Launcher

Fishborg Launcher was introduced as part of the Abyss Rising booster set, released by Konami in late 2012. It belongs to the Fishborg archetype, a collection of Water-attribute monsters primarily designed to facilitate Synchro Summoning through their ability to Special Summon themselves from the graveyard. This particular card was conceived as a thematic successor to the earlier Fishborg Blaster, which had been banned from competitive play due to its powerful recursive capabilities, leading the design team to introduce a more restricted version that required specific board states to function.

The card features artwork consistent with the industrial-aquatic aesthetic of the Fishborg series, depicting a cybernetic marine creature designed by the Konami TCG illustration department. Within the competitive landscape of the time, it was received as a niche utility card intended for dedicated Water-based strategies. While it did not reach the same ubiquity as its predecessors, it remains a notable example of the card game's ongoing effort to balance legacy monster support with updated restrictions to maintain mechanical stability.
