Provenance

Where it came from

Fortress Whale debuted as part of the Tournament Pack 7 set, released by Konami to provide competitive players with specific utility and collectability. As a ritual monster, it requires the 'Fortress Whale's Oath' spell card to be summoned, reflecting the early-era mechanics of the Yu-Gi-Oh! Trading Card Game where ritual summoning was a central, albeit complex, strategic element. The card represents a stylistic transition in the game, moving toward more aggressive aquatic-themed designs.

The artwork features a distinctive, mechanical sea creature, emblematic of the industrial-fantasy aesthetic common in early Yu-Gi-Oh! card designs. These Tournament Pack releases were distributed primarily through official tournament venues, making them highly sought after by players looking to bolster their decks with cards not found in standard retail boosters. Its status as a super-rare in this specific set solidified its reputation as a prized inclusion for collectors during the mid-2000s competitive circuit.
