Gaia The Fierce Knight

Gaia the Fierce Knight was released in 2002 as part of the Legend of Blue Eyes White Dragon, the inaugural booster set for the Yu-Gi-Oh! Trading Card Game in North America. Produced by Konami, the card served as a foundational piece of the game's launch strategy, drawing heavily from the popular manga and anime series where Gaia featured as a signature monster for the protagonist Yugi Muto. Its arrival marked the beginning of a massive global phenomenon, establishing the core mechanics and visual identity that would define the game for decades to follow.

The card's design features iconic artwork depicting a knight mounted on a distinctively armored horse, a visual hallmark of Kazuki Takahashi’s original character designs. As an Ultra Rare card in the debut set, it was highly sought after for its thematic significance and its role in early competitive deck-building. It remains a cornerstone of the game's history, representing the bridge between the franchise’s storytelling roots and its evolution into a highly tactical tabletop competition.
