Provenance

Where it came from

Geartown was originally introduced in the Yu-Gi-Oh! GX era as a staple Field Spell card centered around the 'Ancient Gear' archetype. Its design allows for the effortless special summoning of high-level Ancient Gear monsters by destroying the card itself, representing the mechanic of a city being dismantled to fuel the creation of colossal war machines. This synergy made it a cornerstone of deck building for players focusing on heavy mechanical behemoths.

The card was included in the 2021 release Ghosts From the Past (GFTP-EN108) as an Ultra Rare reprint. This set was designed to consolidate popular, competitively relevant cards into a unified collection, offering updated rarities for players seeking to optimize their deck aesthetics. By reprinting this classic spell, the set provided a bridge between older game strategies and modern competitive formats, maintaining the iconic illustration of the crumbling, clockwork-infused cityscape.
