Provenance

Where it came from

Ghost Meets Girl - A Mayakashi's Manuscript was first introduced to the Yu-Gi-Oh! Trading Card Game in the 2021 Tin of Ancient Battles, serving as a reprint of a card originally featured in the 2020 core set Rise of the Duelist. This card is part of the Mayakashi archetype, a series of cards centered around undead spirits and ghost-themed lore inspired by Japanese folklore, specifically yūrei and traditional theater motifs.

The card’s design features intricate, evocative artwork consistent with the Mayakashi aesthetic, emphasizing ethereal silhouettes and a melancholic atmosphere. As a continuous spell card, it plays a strategic role in the archetype by facilitating special summons and providing graveyard recursion. It was received by the player base as a vital support piece for the Mayakashi engine, valued for both its thematic integration into the deck's undead-syncro playstyle and its utility in competitive play.
