Goblin King

The Goblin King card originates from the Speed Duel GX: Duelists of Shadows set, released by Konami as part of the specialized Speed Duel format. This format is designed to provide a streamlined, fast-paced play experience based on the rules established in the Yu-Gi-Oh! GX animated series. The inclusion of this card reflects the thematic focus on the Duelists of Shadows, the primary antagonists of the series' third season, whose decks often featured dark, underworld-themed creatures.

Originally debuting in the earlier Advanced format years prior, the card’s design centers on the interaction between Fiend-type monsters, where its strength is tied directly to the number of other Fiends on the field. The artwork draws from classic fantasy tropes, depicting a ruler surrounded by subordinates, a visual motif common in the early-to-mid 2000s era of the card game. As a common rarity print in the Speed Duel series, it serves as a utility card for players looking to build budget-friendly Fiend-based strategies within the restricted card pool of the format.
