Gouki Riscorpio

Gouki Riscorpio was released as part of the Code of the Duelist booster set, which debuted in the TCG in August 2017. The card introduced the Gouki archetype, a theme centered around professional wrestlers that was prominently featured in the Yu-Gi-Oh! VRAINS animated series. The design aesthetic draws directly from high-octane sports entertainment, utilizing bold, muscular character models and exaggerated poses to reflect the tactical theme of the deck, which rewards players for linking these monsters together to gain resources.

The archetype was designed by Konami as a robust engine for Link Summoning, a mechanic that had just been introduced to the game with the release of the Starter Deck: Link Strike. Riscorpio served as a key piece of the Gouki strategy due to its ability to special summon itself while providing a search effect for other Gouki cards when sent from the field to the graveyard. The card was well-received by competitive players for its utility in creating consistent board states, solidifying its place in early VRAINS-era deck builds.
