Gouki The Tyrant Ogre

Gouki The Tyrant Ogre was released in the Doom of Dimensions expansion set, serving as a specialized support piece for the Gouki archetype within the Yu-Gi-Oh! trading card game. The Gouki theme draws heavy inspiration from professional wrestling, featuring characters that emphasize strength, grapples, and high-impact maneuvers, reflecting a design philosophy centered on aggressive board presence and field control.

The card was designed to capitalize on the Link-summoning era of the game, functioning as a high-level Fusion Monster that demands specific materials to enter the fray. As a Super Rare card, it represents the mid-tier rarity standard of the set, offering a distinct aesthetic through its foil treatment which highlights the rugged, monstrous design of the character. Its reception among players has historically been tied to the competitive viability of Gouki decks, which have seen periods of popularity due to their ability to sustain long combo chains.
