Gren, Tactician of Dark World

Gren, Tactician of Dark World was introduced in the 2007 expansion set Strike of Neos. This card belongs to the Dark World archetype, a series of Fiend-type monsters characterized by effects that trigger when discarded from the hand to the graveyard. The set arrived during the GX era of the Yu-Gi-Oh! Trading Card Game, a time when Konami was diversifying game mechanics to reward players for manipulating their discard piles.

The card's design features the signature aesthetic of the Dark World realm, emphasizing gothic, militaristic imagery common to the archetype's roster. As a common rarity card, Gren served as an accessible utility piece for duelists building thematic decks, though it was generally overshadowed by more powerful counterparts within the same engine. Its reception among the competitive community was modest, as players tended to favor Dark World monsters with more impactful or board-clearing discard effects.
