Hippo Carnival

Hippo Carnival was introduced in the Starter Deck: Yuya, released by Konami in 2016 as part of the Yu-Gi-Oh! Trading Card Game. The deck was designed to coincide with the Yu-Gi-Oh! ARC-V anime series, specifically focusing on the deck style of the protagonist, Yuya Sakaki, who utilizes performance-themed cards to facilitate his Pendulum Summoning strategies. As a Quick-Play Spell, the card was created to provide players with a versatile tool for generating tokens on the field, fitting into the show's emphasis on entertaining dueling styles and creative monster positioning.

The card features artwork depicting the signature 'Performapal' monsters in a festive, circus-inspired setting, reflecting the lighthearted and performative nature of Yuya's character design. Like many common-rarity cards in starter sets, its primary function is to serve as a functional support piece for beginners and casual players looking to experience the mechanics showcased in the ARC-V era. While not a centerpiece of competitive play, it remains a thematic staple for fans of the Performapal archetype and the specific visual identity of the ARC-V card catalog.
