Where it came from
Infernoble Arms - Durendal was originally introduced to the Yu-Gi-Oh! Trading Card Game as part of the Rise of the Duelist core set in 2020. The card draws its name and thematic inspiration from Durendal, the legendary sword of Roland, a paladin in the service of Charlemagne. Within the game's mechanics, it serves as a central support piece for the Infernoble Knight archetype, designed to search for Fire Warrior monsters and provide equipment-based utility to the field.
The 2021 Tin of Ancient Battles version, numbered MP21-EN136, was released as a reprint to make the card more accessible to the wider player base. Like other cards in the Infernoble line, the artwork reflects a high-fantasy aesthetic, utilizing gold and crimson motifs to match the chivalric theme of the monsters it supports. It was well-received by competitive players for its efficiency, as it functions as both a searcher and a tactical tool, solidifying its place in the game's strategic landscape.
