Infernoble Knight Captain Roland

Infernoble Knight Captain Roland was introduced in the 2020 Yu-Gi-Oh! TCG core booster set, Rise of the Duelist. The card belongs to the Infernoble Knight archetype, a thematic evolution of the classic Noble Knight cards that draws heavy inspiration from the chivalric legends of Charlemagne and the Matter of France. This specific iteration reimagines the historical Roland, one of Charlemagne's paladins, as a fiery, armored Synchro monster, reflecting the set's focus on high-speed play and equip-spell synergy.

The visual design of the card leans into a bold, heroic aesthetic characteristic of the late-era Yu-Gi-Oh! art style, emphasizing gleaming steel, flowing capes, and aggressive stances. Within the competitive landscape, it was received as a functional utility piece for its ability to search for equipment spells, cementing its role as a core engine component within Infernoble decks. Its release solidified a shift toward more complex, multi-layered archetypes that reward players for managing resources across the field and graveyard.
