Karakuri Ninja mdl 339 "Sazank"

Karakuri Ninja mdl 339 'Sazank' was introduced in the 2010 Yu-Gi-Oh! Trading Card Game expansion set Starstrike Blast. The card represents the Karakuri archetype, a series of Earth-attribute Machine monsters themed after complex Japanese automata and mechanical puppets. Its design aesthetic draws heavily from traditional karakuri ningyo—mechanical dolls from the Edo period—reimagined through a stylized, industrial lens that emphasizes gears, clockwork components, and a distinct aesthetic of intricate, segmented plating.

The card was designed to function within the broader Karakuri engine, which focuses on manipulating battle positions to trigger secondary effects. As a Super Rare card in the Starstrike Blast set, Sazank gained notoriety among competitive players for its utility in board control, specifically its ability to send an opponent's card to the Graveyard when flipped. The artwork, characterized by its sharp, angular machinery and unique posture, reflects the signature visual language established by the designers of the Karakuri series, prioritizing a sense of rigid, mechanical precision.
