Level Eater

Level Eater was released as part of the Duelist Pack: Yusei 2 set in 2010. This collection was designed to provide players with cards centered around the signature monsters and strategies used by Yusei Fudo, the protagonist of the Yu-Gi-Oh! 5D's animated series. As a Common rarity card, it was intended to be highly accessible for casual players and fans looking to replicate the character's deck composition from the television show.

The card features an effect that allows players to reduce the level of a high-level monster to special summon Level Eater from the graveyard. Its design focuses on enabling complex synchro summoning sequences, which was the primary mechanical innovation introduced in the 5D's era. While initially seen as a niche utility card, it eventually gained a reputation in competitive circles for its ability to generate infinite material for synchro plays, eventually leading to its prohibition in various tournament formats.
