Lightray Grepher

Lightray Grepher was first introduced in the Yu-Gi-Oh! Trading Card Game as part of the Return of the Duelist booster set in 2012, expanding the Lightray archetype. The card was designed to support light-attribute strategies, specifically those centered around banishing light monsters from the graveyard to special summon more powerful variants. Its inclusion in OTS Tournament Pack 6, released in 2017, served as a common-rarity reprint intended to provide players with accessible utility for casual and competitive deck building within the game's evolving meta.

The character design of Lightray Grepher serves as a thematic evolution of the Dark Grepher card, visually transitioning from a dark-attribute aesthetic to a luminous, armored appearance. Like many monsters in the Grepher line, the design focuses on tactical versatility, allowing players to manipulate their graveyard to enable combos. While it did not define the competitive landscape, it is recognized by collectors as a distinct stylistic bridge between legacy cards and the complex special-summoning mechanics that characterized the mid-2010s era of the game.
