Magic Cylinder

Magic Cylinder first appeared in the early years of the Yu-Gi-Oh! Trading Card Game, designed by Konami as part of the Pharaoh's Servant expansion. The card features an iconic illustration of a mystical vessel that redirects an opponent's attack, a design intended to provide players with a high-stakes defensive trap that could instantly punish aggressive strategies. Its mechanic, which forces a monster to attack its own controller for full damage, quickly established it as a staple of competitive and casual play.

The version from the Starter Deck: Jaden Yuki, released in 2006, was created to introduce new players to the mechanics of the GX-era anime. By including this established card in a deck centered on the series protagonist, the designers aimed to provide beginners with a powerful, versatile tool for their personal collections. As a common rarity reprint, it remained accessible to a wide audience while retaining the strategic utility that made the original card a significant presence in the game's history.
