Majespecter Cat - Nekomata

Majespecter Cat - Nekomata was introduced in the 2015 Yu-Gi-Oh! Trading Card Game set Dimension of Chaos. This expansion was designed to heavily integrate the Pendulum Summoning mechanic, which had been the defining innovation of the preceding Arc-V era. The Majespecter archetype, characterized by their Wind attribute and Spellcaster type, was built around a theme of immunity to opponent's card effects, providing a resilient playstyle that rewarded strategic resource management.

The card's design draws inspiration from the Japanese folklore figure of the nekomata, a bifurcated-tail cat demon. In the context of the game, the illustration emphasizes the creature's ethereal and playful nature, aligning with the aesthetic of the Majespecter series, which features spirits that combine traditional yokai imagery with a distinct, cutesy art style. Upon release, the archetype was well-received by competitive players for its consistency and ability to maintain field presence through its search-based utility.
