Malefic Divide

Malefic Divide was introduced in the Duel Overload set, released in 2020 as a high-rarity collection for Yu-Gi-Oh! players. The card serves as support for the Malefic archetype, a series of monsters based on corrupted versions of iconic creatures from the original series, first popularized by the film Yu-Gi-Oh! 3D Bonds Beyond Time. Its inclusion in this set was intended to modernize the Malefic playstyle, providing a much-needed consistency boost by allowing players to special summon archetype members directly from the deck.

The design of the card reflects the dark, aesthetic motifs characteristic of the Malefic series, featuring monochromatic or inverted color palettes meant to signify their parasitic nature. As an ultra-rare card within the Duel Overload set, it utilizes a glossy foil finish that highlights the character artwork. While the Malefic archetype has long been considered a niche interest due to its restrictive play requirements, this support card was well-received by fans of the archetype for making the strategy more viable in casual competitive play.
