Provenance

Where it came from

The Malefic Truth Dragon was released in 2011 as a promotional card for Shonen Jump magazine, specifically appearing in Volume 9, Issue 3. This card was created as part of the expansion of the 'Malefic' archetype, a series introduced in the Yu-Gi-Oh! 3D Bonds Beyond Time movie, which features corrupted, darkened versions of iconic monsters from the franchise's history.

The artwork, reflecting the aggressive and monochromatic aesthetic of the Malefic set, was designed to convey the raw, destructive nature of the dragon within the card game's lore. As an Ultra Rare promotional release, it was highly sought after by players and collectors during the peak of the magazine's run, serving as a distinct piece of promotional material that bridged the gap between cinematic releases and competitive trading card play.
