Masked Dragon

Masked Dragon was originally introduced to the Yu-Gi-Oh! Trading Card Game as a core component of the fire-attribute Dragon support archetype. Debuting in the Japanese set Soul of the Duelist and later brought to Western markets, the card was designed by Konami as a versatile 'floater' that allowed players to summon smaller dragon-type monsters directly from the deck upon being destroyed in battle. This mechanic provided critical utility for maintaining field presence, making it a staple for aggressive dragon-themed decks throughout the mid-2000s.

The Dark Revelation Volume 3 set, released as a compilation product, functioned as a way to reprint highly utilized cards from the era's competitive meta. By including Masked Dragon as a common rarity, Konami ensured that players could easily acquire the card to bolster their strategies. Its design, characterized by the simple yet effective tactical advantage of deck thinning, reflects the game's shift toward faster-paced monster-summoning interactions during the GX era of the franchise.
