Provenance

Where it came from

The Mementomictlan Tecuhtlica, also known as Creation King, was released as part of the 2024 expansion The Infinite Forbidden, which revitalized the Memento archetype within the Yu-Gi-Oh! Trading Card Game. Designed to serve as the boss monster for this specific deck strategy, the card draws heavy inspiration from Mesoamerican mythology, specifically reflecting themes of death and rebirth associated with Mictlān, the underworld of Aztec belief.

The artistic direction focuses on a grim, skeletal aesthetic consistent with the Memento card series, which features low-level monsters transforming into powerful, evolved versions of themselves. As a Super Rare card in the set, it was received by players as a pivotal utility piece, valued for its ability to stabilize the archetype's field presence and facilitate its unique graveyard-manipulation mechanics.
