Mementotlan Goblin

The Mementotlan Goblin, cataloged as VASM-EN007, was introduced in the 2023 Yu-Gi-Oh! TCG booster set Valiant Smashers. This set was designed to introduce the Memento archetype, a series of cards that reimagines classic, nostalgic monsters from the game's early history with updated, graveyard-centric effects. The design philosophy behind the Mementotlan sub-theme focuses on the cyclical nature of the game, encouraging players to destroy their own field to summon larger, more powerful variants of legacy creatures.

The artwork for the Mementotlan Goblin pays homage to the original 1999 Goblin Attack Force, translating its aggressive posture into a more decayed, spectral aesthetic consistent with the Memento lore. Within the competitive landscape, the card serves as a foundational searcher for the deck's engine, allowing players to bridge the gap between early-game setup and the boss monsters that define the archetype. Upon its release, it was well-received by collectors and players alike for its thematic cohesion and its ability to modernize familiar designs.
