Mermaid Knight

Mermaid Knight first appeared in the Yu-Gi-Oh! Trading Card Game as part of the Pharaonic Guardian set in 2003, later being reprinted in the Dark Revelation Volume 2 compilation set. These sets were designed to translate the complex tactical dueling experience of the Japanese OCG for Western audiences, often featuring artwork that reflected the mythological themes common in early fantasy card game design.

The card was illustrated to fit the aquatic warrior motif characteristic of early water-attribute monster designs. Mechanically, it was conceived as a niche offensive option, allowing for two attacks during the battle phase if the player controlled a specific field spell. While it did not become a staple in competitive tournament play, it remains a recognized piece of the game's expansive early-2000s library, valued by players for its distinctive visual aesthetic.
