Provenance

Where it came from

Mesmeric Control was released as one of the three promotional cards included with the 2004 video game Yu-Gi-Oh! The Dawn of Destiny for the original Xbox. The card served as an incentive for players to purchase the title, which was the first Yu-Gi-Oh! game developed specifically for the platform, aiming to capitalize on the franchise's peak popularity in North America during the early 2000s.

The card features artwork consistent with the aesthetic of the era's trading card game expansions, characterized by a dark, mystical visual style intended to complement its effect, which allows the player to prevent an opponent's monster from changing its battle position. As a super-rare print with a specific set prefix, it has since become a modest piece of history for collectors of promotional material from the franchise's expansion into home console gaming.
