Where it came from
The Meteor Dragon card was released in 2002 as part of a promotional campaign between McDonald's and Konami to coincide with the growing popularity of the Yu-Gi-Oh! Trading Card Game in North America. These cards were distributed within Happy Meals, serving as an accessible entry point for younger players to engage with the franchise during its initial surge in Western markets.
The design of the card reflects the aesthetic conventions of the early Yu-Gi-Oh! era, featuring the distinct fantasy-inspired dragon illustration typical of Kazuki Takahashi's creative vision for the series. As a promotional rare, it was intended to offer a high-value aesthetic draw for the collection, though it functioned primarily as a collectible novelty rather than a central piece for competitive deck building at the time.
