Provenance

Where it came from

Mitsu the Insect Ninja was originally released in the 2022 core booster set Darkwing Blast, designed to bolster the long-standing Ninja archetype within the Yu-Gi-Oh! Trading Card Game. As an effect monster, it was crafted to provide the deck with proactive disruption, allowing players to flip opponent monsters face-down during their turn. The card was created by Konami’s design team to modernize the Ninja playstyle by emphasizing the 'flip' mechanic that defined the theme's early history.

The specific version in the 25th Anniversary Tin: Dueling Heroes Mega Pack, numbered MP23-EN167, was included as part of a commemorative set intended to celebrate the quarter-century legacy of the game. Featuring the Rarity: Rare finish, this reprint maintains the original artwork and utility while providing players with a more accessible way to integrate the card into competitive or casual decks. The design has been generally well-received by players for its tactical versatility and its ability to synergize with legacy support cards.
