Morinphen was released as part of the Metal Raiders booster set, which debuted in the North American TCG market in 2002. As a common rarity card, it served as filler in a set designed to expand the base game’s roster of monsters by introducing archetypes and support cards from the early Japanese OCG releases. The card's aesthetic reflects the surreal, dark fantasy style common to early Yu-Gi-Oh! monster design, characterized by an unsettling, creature-based visual language meant to distinguish the game from standard Western card games.
