Nekroz of Valkyrus

Nekroz of Valkyrus was originally introduced to the Yu-Gi-Oh! Trading Card Game as part of the Secret Forces booster set in 2015. It represents a key component of the Nekroz archetype, which features warriors wearing the armor of fallen monsters from previous archetypes, such as the Trishula, Brionac, and Valkyrus itself. The design reflects the game's shift toward complex ritual summoning mechanics that utilize monsters from the graveyard as tribute, establishing a high-utility card that functions as both a powerful defensive hand trap and a tool for card draw.

The Duel Power version, released in 2019, was part of a celebratory collection designed to reprint some of the most impactful cards in the game's history with updated ultra-rare card art. By the time of this release, the card had been a centerpiece of competitive play for several years, praised for its ability to halt an opponent's momentum during the battle phase. While the original release sparked significant debate regarding the power creep of ritual monsters, this reprint served to make the card more accessible to the wider player base while maintaining the aesthetic integrity of the original Japanese concept art.
