Nemuriko

Nemuriko was released in the Legend of Blue Eyes White Dragon set, the inaugural Yu-Gi-Oh! Trading Card Game expansion introduced to North American audiences in 2002. As a low-level Normal Monster, it serves as a representative example of the early, flavor-focused card pool designed by Konami to mirror the monsters encountered in the original manga series. Its inclusion in this foundational set was intended to populate the game with varied creature designs, establishing the aesthetic bedrock for the card game during its initial launch.

The design of Nemuriko reflects the darker, monster-horror influence of the early manga chapters, portraying a somnambulistic entity that fits the gothic aesthetic often employed by original creator Kazuki Takahashi. Within the competitive ecosystem of the game's first year, the card served as basic filler material. While it lacks competitive utility, its role as a common-rarity print in the first core booster pack makes it a significant piece for collectors documenting the complete history of the game's earliest print runs.
