Nephthys, the Sacred Flame

Nephthys, the Sacred Flame was released in 2018 as part of the Hidden Summoners booster set. This set was designed to expand upon and revitalize several older archetypes, specifically providing the Nephthys series with a dedicated core of support cards to transform it into a cohesive, ritual-focused engine. The design draws heavily from Egyptian mythology, reimagining the deity Nephthys as a high-ranking avian entity to align with the game's established lore for this specific monster archetype.

The card was illustrated to reflect the elevated status of the Nephthys line, utilizing the Secret Rare foil treatment to distinguish it as one of the set's flagship cards. Within the context of the game's competitive environment, this link monster was introduced to bridge the gap between ritual summoning mechanics and extra deck utility. It was generally well-received by players focusing on dedicated archetype builds for its ability to provide board presence and recovery options that were previously missing from the earlier Nephthys cards.
