Where it came from
Nightmare Hands was introduced in the Burst Protocol expansion as a tactical utility spell card. It was designed to reflect the set's broader theme of high-stakes, rapid-fire gameplay, focusing on disruptive mechanics that reward players for managing their hand state effectively under pressure.
The card's artwork features a distinct, gothic aesthetic typical of the era's trading card design, utilizing muted, dark palettes to emphasize the 'nightmare' moniker. While the specific illustrator is not credited in official documentation, the design was developed to align with the visual identity of the Burst Protocol series, which prioritized kinetic, shadowy motifs to complement its fast-paced strategic focus.
