Number 3: Cicada King

Number 3: Cicada King was introduced to the Yu-Gi-Oh! Trading Card Game in the 2020 set Battles of Legend: Armageddon. As an Xyz Monster, it belongs to the 'Number' series, a thematic collection of cards rooted in the franchise's lore as powerful artifacts hunted by characters. This specific card was adapted from the original Japanese release in the Collection Pack 2020, serving as a high-utility rank 3 monster designed to facilitate monster negation and board presence.

The design of the card emphasizes an insectoid, mechanical aesthetic, consistent with its rank and role in competitive play. Its illustration reflects the intricate, armored styling common to the 'Number' line, aiming for an intimidating appearance that matches its functional purpose as a defensive disruption tool. Upon its Western release, it was well-received by players for its efficiency in decks that frequently summon level 3 monsters, establishing itself as a reliable staple for control-oriented strategies.
