Number 49: Fortune Tune

Number 49: Fortune Tune debuted in the Yu-Gi-Oh! Trading Card Game within the 2021 King's Court booster set. The card draws its thematic inspiration from the Zexal era of the franchise, specifically focusing on the Number monster archetype which features unique, numbered holographic designs. Its introduction in King's Court was designed to support Rank 3 Xyz strategies, offering players a defensive utility option capable of preventing its own destruction while providing a reliable source of life point recovery.

The card was illustrated with a whimsical, fortune-telling aesthetic that aligns with its name and ability to mitigate damage. By utilizing two level 3 monsters, players can summon this defensive powerhouse to stall opponents or stabilize their life total during drawn-out matches. Upon its release, the card was received as a stable and functional addition to the competitive card pool, valued for its durability and its ability to recycle cards back into the deck, reflecting the game's shift toward more resilient board states.
